Celeste Laurent is a student at Western Kentucky University pursuing majors in Agriculture: Animal Science and News Editorial Journalism. Laurent was raised on a beef cattle operation in Western Kentucky.
Celeste decided early in her life that she wanted to make a career in the agriculture industry.
In 2006, she and her 4 siblings established Laurent Family Farms, a Kentucky Proud show pig operation. When she entered high school, Laurent transitioned from her 4-H livestock showing experience to FFA. Four years later she was elected Kentucky FFA Association Secretary for the 2007-2008 term.
In the summer of 2009, Celeste was employed by the Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources as an Animal Welfare & Animal Agriculture Initiative Communications intern. She was responsible for writing press releases, serving as media contact, designing a website and social media campaign for the Michigan Dairy Expo.
Currently, Celeste is continuing her studies at Western Kentucky University and working as a freelance writer, designer, and social media manager. Her current clients include Cow Country News and the Kentucky FFA Association. As always, Celeste stands on her own soapbox on her personal blog: A Farm Girl’s Perspective.
